Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What kind of wood do you provide?

A: We provide a high-quality mix of New Hampshire hardwoods (such as Oak, Maple, and Beech). These varieties are known for their high heat output and long burn times, making them ideal for our cold winters.

Q: Is your firewood seasoned?

A: Yes. We take pride in ensuring our wood is properly seasoned to a moisture content by moisture testing that allows for an efficient, clean burn with minimal smoke and creosote buildup.

Q: How much wood is in a “cord”?

A: A standard cord is a stack of wood measuring 4 feet high, 4 feet wide, and 8 feet long (128 cubic feet). We ensure our measurements are honest and accurate so you get exactly what you pay for.

Q: Do you deliver to my town?

A: We deliver throughout Southern New Hampshire. Please contact us with your location for a delivery quote and current lead times.

Q: How should I store my firewood upon delivery?

A: To keep your wood in peak condition, store it off the ground (on pallets or a rack) and keep the top covered to protect it from snow and rain, while leaving the sides open for airflow.

Q: Do you sell green firewood?

A: Yes, when available. We offer green wood for those who prefer to :buy ahead” and season themselves. Please call for current availability and pricing.

🔥 Spring Checklist: What You Need to Know

• Fire Pit Season is Here: Winter might be over, but patio season is just beginning! Nothing beats a spring evening spent around the fire pit with friends and family.

• Inventory Check: Don’t get caught with an empty rack during a sudden “April shower” chill. Now is a great time to top off your supply with our premium seasoned hardwoods.

• The Early Bird Gets the Best Wood: Smart burners know that spring is the best time to order for next winter. Getting your wood delivered now gives it maximum time to finish seasoning on your property, ensuring a clean, hot burn come November.

🌿 Pro-Tip: Storing Your Wood This Season

To keep your Higher Ground delivery in top shape through the humid spring months:

1. Keep it Off the Ground: Use pallets or a rack to prevent moisture from seeping into the bottom layer.

2. Top Cover Only: Cover the top of your stack to shed rain, but leave the sides open to let the spring breeze circulate.

3. Sunlight is Your Friend: If possible, stack your wood in a spot that gets plenty of afternoon sun.
